AKC Outstanding Sportsmanship Award - 2010
This award honors those individuals who deserve special recognition that have made a difference in the sport of purebred dogs, embodied the AKC Code of Sportsmanship, and have been an active and valued member of an AKC member club. The ABTC Board of Directors selected Pat Weymouth to receive this award this year.
Here is a list of some of the things that Pat has done as an ABTC member:
1. Member of ABTC for 36 years, as well as a long time member of the Southern California Belgian Tervuren Club
2. Served several times on the ABTC Board of Directors
3. Active mentor with the ABTC Education Committee
4. Pat drove the improvement for the revised ABTC breeder referral program and its presence on the website
5. Past National Specialty judge
6. She was instrumental in the placement of dogs from fellow longtime member Judith Lee Smith of Frostfire fame immediately following Judy’s untimely death.
7. Pat was doing rescue on behalf of our breed and all Belgians in the Southern California area long before the ABTC had a formalized rescue program. She continues to assist to this day with the rescue and placement of dogs whenever the need arises.
8. For many in the Club itself, Pat can be counted on as a reliable resource when checking references for potential puppy people in the California area.
9. Pat has always embraced newcomers and provided guidance to networking with fellow Belgian folks, as well as information on herding and other training clubs.
10. Her expertise and advice regarding potential breeding combinations is readily sought by both long time and new breeders.
11. Pat’s droll sense of humor can easily diffuse a situation and her genuine happiness when someone has reached their success has been greatly appreciated.
