Points are awarded for titles earned in the country of residence of the direct or grand offspring. For each type of BAR, dogs must have 100 points and bitches must have 50 points. Owners are required to request BAR awards on the ABTC Awards form published yearly. Owners must provide verification of the dog’s point totals. BAR Pins (awarded to dogs with 2 or more BARs) are free. Members who have earned one pin on a previous dog must purchase subsequent pins. Additional pins are $25.00. Owners requesting BAR plaques must submit verification of point calculations. Verification of progeny titles includes a copy of title, year and page title was published in ABTC annual report or issue/page published in AKC Awards. A copy of the ABTC BAR list is NOT considered verification. Verification can be: the issue/page published in the AKC Gazette; photocopies of the titles, copies of the ABTC Annual Report listing of new title holders. It is only necessary to verify the most advanced title for Performance and Obedience BAR verification. To use foreign titles, a copy of the certificate must be included. The sire, dam, and grandsires/dams must be written on the back. Grandsires/dams who appear on both the maternal and paternal sides of the pedigree are credited twice. The symbol 2x should be used next to the name of a dog who is to be counted twice. There are three BAR categories: Conformation, Obedience (includes Tracking), and Performance (includes Agility and Herding). Tervuren who have earned a single BAR award should use the appropriate initials in advertising: C-BAR, O-BAR, P-BAR. Tervuren who have earned two or more BAR awards may simply use the initials BAR.
American Belgian Tervuren Club Awards Read before applying for awards. Awards Chairman: Leigh Carter, 1748 Agnes Street SW, Marietta, GA 30008-4404 , leigh.carter@att.netEligibility: Must be an ABTC member during the year the award was earned AND the year the club presents the award; in effect a two-year membership. Awards Year: Awards are for achievements earned between January 1 and December 31, of the respective year. Foreign Titles: No awards given for achievements earned outside the member’s country of residence. Only AKC titles (CKC for Canadian members) are eligible for ABTC awards. Verification information for awards is copies of the title certificates or a copy of the ribbon (for HIT, BIS or Group Placement). You need only send a copy of the latest title if the dog’s name on the certificate reflects the additional titles. Merit Pins are awarded to dogs earning AKC titles in these categories: Agility, Champion, Group Placement, Herding, Obedience, Tracking and Rally. A dog will be awarded one pin per category regardless of how many titles it earns in each category. Paperweight Achievement: Awarded to dogs earning either an H-I-T or B-I-S. One paperweight per dog per lifetime. Plaques: Awarded to dogs who have earned Obedience Trial Champion, Herding Trial Champion, Champion Tracker, Master Agility Champion, or CH-UDT. Plaques are awarded to Versatile Tervuren who have earned titles in 4 of 5 categories: Conformation, Obedience, Herding, Agility or Tracking. Preferred agility and Rally titles will not count towards the Versatile Tervuren award. Please specify if you want the dog’s name on the plaque to incorporate the AKC Versatile Dog Program. Awards requests must conform to the above requirements in all respects. The awards chairman will not request missing information.
